Story Behind the Sale
This Pear Street house in Greenslopes was vacant when we arrived to stage it. As such, we just had the bones of the property to work with, allowing us to furnish and style it in a way that we thought best suited the era and surroundings of the home. This is how we landed on a plantation style. Similar to Hamptons, a plantation style keeps the home feeling light whilst tying in some darker colours. Given this home is well-loved and is showing some signs of its age, Cassie wanted to brighten and slightly modernise it, which made this style perfect for the look she wanted to achieve.
As you’ll see, the home came together beautifully. Using a combination of greys, tans, greens and blacks, Cassie was able to execute a look that attracted a larger target market which was pivotal given the property’s close proximity to the Brisbane CBD.
Result of the sale: SOLD in less than four weeks for $1,200,000 – an outstanding outcome!
Master Bedroom
Given the colour of the pre-existing carpet in the master bedroom, Cassie opted for a neutral colour palette, incorporating predominantly beiges and browns but also a pop of soft colours to slightly modernise the home. Utilising these colours, along with the palm tree accents, allowed Cassie to achieve a relaxed, plantation style look that is a continuous theme throughout the home.
Living Room
As the most spacious part of the home, this living room was full of character and potential with its wooden trimmings and features. To tie in the darker wooden floors with the contrasting white walls, we used a cream couch and grey rug with white accessories in this room, along with black accents in the form of the TV unit, couch cushions and artwork.
The wooden legs on both the coffee table and occasional chairs also allowed us to ensure the room fit with the overall theme and bones of the house. Together, the pieces we chose created a homely atmosphere that perfectly encapsulated the Queenslander lifestyle.
Kitchen & Dining Area
Given the age of this home, the kitchen wasn’t a modern one that you see in newly built houses today… but never fear! One of the major advantages of home staging is that it detracts from the home’s less desirable features and shifts the potential buyers focus to areas you want to accentuate.
As such, Cassie’s aim in the kitchen and dining area was to add modern touches. To achieve this, we brought in a round glass table with black legs, accompanied by black and rattan dining chairs. Cassie also added a large mirror with dark grey trimming to open up the space. The addition of greenery contributes a pop of colour and seamlessly completes the look.
