G’day Foxy friends!

I’m Laura – the newest face here at Foxy Home Staging! I began working at Foxy two weeks ago and I’m loving it! But before I get too excited and jump straight in, let me first tell you a bit about what my job is here, because it’s a little different to what you might initially think.

Officially, my role is digital marketer and content writer, but as I quickly learnt on my very first day, I’m also an assistant stylist and removalist, soon-to-be expert car packer (I do love a game of tetris!), and fill-in truck driver when needed… okay, for legal reasons that last part is a joke – driving a truck is a skill I’m yet to refine haha!

All jokes aside, my first two weeks at Foxy have taught me that my role is multifaceted – you never know what the day could entail! So with that said, let me tell you a bit more about my first couple of weeks here to give you a small glimpse into a day in the life of a digital marketer and content writer at a Home Staging company. Let’s rewind to two weeks ago and start at the very beginning, because that’s a very good place to start (who’d have thought?!).

WEEK ONE

Here’s the very first TikTok I made during my first week at Foxy!

When it comes to starting a new job there’s no denying it brings up some nerves, and as an introverted extrovert this was no exception for me. The devastating floods we received last month meant I wasn’t able to make it down to Brisbane to meet the Foxy family before I officially started, as I’m from Toowoomba. So, on my first day, a very nervous and shy Laura stepped into the warehouse and met everyone for the first time. I soon wondered why I felt that way at all because my nerves quickly disappeared as I was greeted with such a warm welcome by everyone!

After meeting most of the team, it was time to jump straight into action! As with everything, the best way to understand how things work is to get right into the thick of it, so that’s exactly what I did… although my first week wasn’t quite as hectic as Cici’s (if you haven’t read about her first week yet make sure you check it out!).

On my first day I jumped in the car with Cassie for a day out on the road to get a feel for how things work here at Foxy.

We first headed out to a pack-up in Bundamba before travelling to Wellington Point for an install. It was approximately two or so hours into my day when I realised that I will soon become very good at packing cars in a tactical way, look like a female version of the Hulk from frequently lifting furniture and climbing stairs countless times (that is, of course, not an exaggeration at all…), and become best friends with bubble wrap! It truly doesn’t get much better than that!

The rest of my week was much the same – travelling around helping out with installs, learning how to make beds, and witnessing all the other clever little tricks our stylists have. It also gave me the chance to start gathering content for, and posting on, our socials.

WEEK TWO

After getting a good feel for how Foxy operates in week one, I jumped into more digital marketing and content writing related work in week two.

On Monday and Tuesday I was based in the office, making TikToks and Reels, starting blog posts, and posting frequently on our Instagram story (make sure you check us out @foxyhomestaging). When Wednesday rolled around it was time for me to jump into a truck for the day! From pack-ups in Hamilton to installs in Jindalee, it gave me a fantastic opportunity to refine my stylist and removalist skills, grab some more content for social media, and listen to music I wouldn’t normally listen to. Rap was it Cam? Or was it metal? I’m not really too sure…

To end out my week, last Thursday I headed to Forest Lake where it was all hands on deck at a large install. That gave me the chance to grab enough footage for three of our platforms – Instagram, TikTok and YouTube (be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that Foxy TV episode!). How good is that!

So, that’s a summary of my first two weeks here at Foxy Home Staging! It’s been a whirlwind and it’s been a blast! I can’t wait to keep learning and pump out even more content.

A sneak peak of the install we did in Forest Lake. Be sure to check out our TikTok and YouTube for more!
