Spread some Foxy Style!

Hello! I’m so happy to have you here, reading my very first blog post! I thought that a great way to break the ice would be for me to introduce myself and share with you the reasons that I started Foxy Home Staging.

Who am I? My name is Phoebe. I married my partner in crime and best friend, Jake, in 2012 and we are the parents of two beautiful boys, two gorgeous dogs and a whingy cat.  We moved to Brisbane, Queensland, in 2005, looking for greener pastures, where Jake worked as a financial consultant and I worked in cancer care.

With a background in health, I could forgive you for wondering why I made the jump into the design industry. Well, after moving to Brisbane, Jake and I put our hard-earned money to use by getting started in the property game. We purchased our first home in 2010 and quickly purchased two more inner city townhouses, within the following year. Then, with no renovation experience behind either of us, we tackled our first property development, complete with a full-scale renovation, subdivision and brand new build.

It was a great success. One property sold at auction and the other sold via private treaty. But perhaps the best outcome was that during the sales process we were introduced to the value of property styling. Our real estate agent convinced us to stage the renovated 3 bedroom Queenslander when we listed it for sale. His reasoning was the house sat on a block of land that was only 280 square metres and the property didn’t have any ‘wow’ features. The transformation that resulted was beautiful. The buyers fell in love with the lifestyle that the property exuded and happily ended up purchasing it at auction!

Obviously, the sale of this property was great, but Jake and I started questioning why no-one had mentioned staging our properties before? Why did we have agents advise us, that the best thing to do to our property before listing it for sale, was nothing?? Why weren’t home sellers being shown the true value of their homes BEFORE they listed it for sale? These frustrations were the reason that I initially became involved in home staging.  If we had sold this many properties, without the knowledge of the value home preparation and staging, then there were bound to be other home sellers in the same boat……….and we wanted to help them. So, Foxy Home Staging was born.

Since then, we have been evolving the business and this blog was an idea that I wanted to try. I wanted to be able to share with you the hints, tips and secrets of staging that I have learnt along the way. I’m hoping that by sharing the tools of the trade, this blog will help you save money by aiding you to stage your home, the DIY way. At the end of the day, if we can help one person sell their property quickly and for a higher price, with professional input or as DIY, then our job is done!

Thanks for reading!
