I started by asking Kerry what gets her excited…..

I absolutely love what I do! Meeting new people every week, I get excited to hear where their journey in life is taking them and I am honoured to be apart of it. Ultimately, I love getting deals done but it’s when I get invited to a housewarming or leaving party that my job is extremely rewarding. That’s when I know I’ve made an impact on people beyond the paperwork!

If you had the ability to fix one thing in the industry, what would it be?

The perception of real estate agents! We are the local good guy that everyone can approach for local knowledge and expertise. I am always happy to help and to give up-to-date market information without the sales pitch. Even over a game of tennis!

What is the most common advice you give to home sellers?

My most common advice to sellers is impeccable presentation. De-clutter, clean thoroughly and add some on trend styling and/or home staging. It works wonders with how potential buyers perceive your home. If it looks and feels a million dollars, chances are you are going to get…..the best sale price possible.

When you walk into a home for the first time, what makes you relax and think the sale will be an easy one?

A home that is very well maintained and beautifully presented. I’ve walked through 50 year old homes that are better presented than 10 year old homes and consequently, sold in a shorter time, at or above the owners expectation. It really does make a difference!

What role does luck play in attracting the right buyer?

I believe that you make your own luck. If you have a professional and innovative marketing plan, your home looks fantastic and it is priced competitively in the market, you will achieve a fantastic result – even above and beyond your asking price. Investing in a sophisticated agent and a world class marketing plan will benefit your back pocket when it comes to Settlement.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I grew up in Auckland, New Zealand, where house prices to buy or rent are extraordinarily high for my generation. It was so unaffordable that in my early 20’s, I was living in a factory with bars on the windows and artificial lighting. It wasn’t terrible, but I always take a moment to appreciate every single home I walk through. I feel very blessed to sell homes for a living when it was once a dream for me to live in one!
