How Styling 47 Caravans Taught Us Some Big Lessons (and Why It Was Worth It)
When most people think of home staging, they picture beautiful bedrooms, styled living rooms, and coffee tables with just the right amount of decor. But recently, our team was asked to do something a little different – and it turned into one of the biggest (and most fun) challenges we’ve taken on yet.
We were approached by Green RV Campers with a unique request: could we style 47 caravans for the Brisbane Caravan & Camping Show at the RNA Showgrounds? Beds, kitchenettes, single bunks, queens, doubles – the works.
Here’s what we learned, how it went, and why styling even a caravan can make a big difference.

This wasn’t your average install. Here’s what made it different:
- 47 beds needed full linen styling (a mix of queens, doubles and singles).
- Kitchenettes in each caravan needed light touches to feel more inviting.
- We originally planned to load everything onto one truck – but ended up needing multiple vehicles and a whole lot more linen than expected.

Even with years of experience, this job gave us some big takeaways:
- Underestimated the time: We thought we’d be in and out in a few hours. Instead, three team members were on site all day.
- Underquoted: We charged a flat $3,100, thinking it was a short job. Next time? Hourly pricing – absolutely.
Stock shortages: We didn’t have enough linen on hand, so we spent nearly $2,800 at Pillow Talk. (Silver lining: we’ll reuse it.)

Making beds in a caravan is no joke.
- Think bunk beds squeezed against a wall.
- Styling beds – whether they were queens, doubles or singles – was physically tough in such confined, compact spaces.
- And of course, doing it 47 times over meant a full day of crawling, reaching, and squeezing into every corner.

At the end of the day, this wasn’t just about making things pretty – it was about sales:
- Presentation builds emotion. Just like detailing a car before selling it, styled beds and inviting kitchens make caravans feel more “lived in” and appealing.
- Visual merchandising works. When a caravan looks welcoming, it invites potential buyers to imagine themselves in it – and that’s a powerful thing.
Standing out counts. At a show packed with dozens of manufacturers, this styling made Green RV’s vans shine.

We had to strike a balance between:
- Styling with warmth and texture.
- Avoiding clutter that would block movement or distract from the product.
- Making sure everything felt intentional and practical.
It was a great reminder that less can be more – especially in small spaces.

Absolutely.
But we’ll charge differently next time.
And we’ll be even more prepared when it comes to timing, linen, and site access.
Event styling might not be our core service – but when the product is something people need to visualise themselves in, we know how to bring it to life.
