Behind the Scenes: What’s Been Happening at Foxy

We recently recorded a new episode of the Foxy Property Chat podcast – our first in a while – and it sparked some great conversations about what’s been happening behind the scenes. From record install numbers to new hires, industry trends, and where we see home staging heading next, here’s a quick summary of the key takeaways and insights we shared.

October always brings a surge in installs, but this year has been on another level. By mid-month, the team had already completed over 110 installs, breaking business records for the number of homes staged at once.

Every day, more jobs are going out than coming back – a good problem to have when homes are selling so quickly. And it’s not just one type of property moving. From entry-level units to prestige acreage homes, demand has been steady across the board. Many are selling within days – some even before hitting the market.

That kind of volume doesn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of months of planning – purchasing ahead, hiring early, and keeping stock rotation consistent so that nothing sits idle for long. While October is the peak, the team stays busy right through to April, with only a short breather over Christmas before the warehouse fills again.

Earlier this year, Jake and Phoebe purchased a separate styling business based in Noosa – giving them the chance to be part of another growing team in a completely new region (alongside their Brisbane-based Foxy Home Staging and prestige brand, Arctic).

Since taking over, the Sunshine Coast business has doubled its capacity, brought in new furniture, and styled some of the area’s most beautiful homes.

Running multiple businesses has been a balancing act, but each team has risen to the challenge. With strong local crews across Brisbane, Noosa, and Arctic’s high-end projects, the group continues to grow – sharing ideas, supporting each other, and raising the bar for home staging across South East Queensland.

As Phoebe summed up, styling is “well and truly here” in Brisbane. What started in the inner-city suburbs has now spread right across the map – Foxy now stages homes as far north as Caboolture and south to Jimboomba.

With Brisbane gearing up for the 2032 Olympics, that demand is only expected to grow. The interesting question is what comes next: how technology like AI, Augmented reality and virtual staging will reshape the way buyers experience properties, and what that means for the next generation of stylists.

Thinking about starting your own staging company? Jake and Phoebe’s advice: know what you’re signing up for.

Styling is only one part of the job. Logistics, storage, and inventory management make up a huge portion of the work – and the investment.

Their top tips:

  • Get experience with another company first.
  • Don’t underestimate how much capital you’ll need.
  • Decide early if you want to stay boutique or scale up.
  • If growth is the goal, own your stock – it’s how you stay flexible long-term.

As Jake puts it, “You end up running a logistics company that happens to do styling – and that’s what makes it sustainable.”

Yes – the Australian Home Staging Conference will be back in 2027.

After a huge year of expansion, the team is taking time to refocus before bringing the event back bigger than ever. Expect more suppliers, more industry insights, and an even stronger sense of community when it returns.

As the year winds down and installs keep rolling out, Phoebe and Jake’s message to themselves – and to anyone in the thick of a busy season – is simple: just keep going.

The next few weeks will be full, but with the right people beside you and a clear sense of purpose, it’s always worth it.
